The McDonald Series wines are an expression of both their fruit and the vision of their namesake winemaker. An aromatic, textural Syrah with a core of rich berry fruit and dark plum, complimented by lifted floral notes, warm spice, liquorice and subtle oak. The palate is medium-weight and supple with a long finish. For quality reasons, this wine is unfined and unfiltered. Decanting is recommended.

Found in 1897, Church Road combines traditional winemaking techniques with modern thinking and innovation to craft premium, complex wines. Grown on the gravel soils of Hawke's Bay's warmest sub-regions, this is a supple fragrant Merlot dominant blend. A core of rich plum and berry fruit is enhanced by lifted floral nots, hints of thyme and subtle earthy undertones. Oak maturation has delivered increased depth and complex of cedar, spice and cacao.

Church Road Syrah expressed the warm climate of Hawke's Bay perfectly with ripe plum, cherry and hints of spice. Complexity from it's time in Oak Barrels offers this wine profound texture, body and finesse. The Devil's Staircase takes the willing down into the realm of decadence and bacchanalian delights. Here everything is pleasure, spiced up with a dash of naughtiness. The unrelenting environment tortures the vines whose twisted limbs produce wine worthy of absolution. These wines are sinfully succulent and devilishly good.

This is a smooth and fruit orientated Gimblett Gravels blend. Deep purple in colour, it has a bouquet of dried herbs, red berries and subtle hints of cedar from a period of barrel maturation.

Pinot Noir; notoriously difficult to cultivate, but with luck, love & perfect conditions, she will reward you with the performance of a life time - a minx & a devil in disguise, a Fickle Mistress. Central Otago's cool climate consistently produces exceptional red fruit flavours of cherry, raspberry and redcurrant, but with concentration and length to match. This wine is layered with black and red berry fruits, complemented by blossoming aromas of dark plum.

Batch fermented in small open-top tanks, it spends 6-9 months in 100% French Oak, the Gold River Pinot Noir offers exceptional quality and regionality at a good price.
